-PASSIONATE WRITER-
ANNE ANDREWS
Excerpts from Poetry booklets.
It brings me great pleasure to create poems. I have been writing poetry for many years. My first poem was published in the Sun Herald children's section when I was about 8 years old, and I won the princely sum of ten shillings! I feel it is the best way to express a multitude of feelings in a few short words. Poetry paints pictures that are alive and vibrant, or very emotive, and sometimes are side-splittingly funny.
The following are excerpts from the three published poetry booklets, Atmospheric, Comic and Magic.

SNOW DAYS (from ATMOSPHERIC).
Two days of wind
And temperatures plummeting
Chill factor intense
And I am excited
Snow covers the ground
At ten p.m.
I take a photograph
In case it melts by morn
A brisk walk at six o’clock
With the Jack Russells
No longer white
Against the pristine snow.

HALF AN HOUR SHEARING AND A TWO HOUR REST (from COMIC).
Half an hour shearing and a two hour rest,
My husband can shear along with the best,
He can do a sheep in three minutes flat,
But needs another seven to straighten his back.
*******
Shearing time’s what the kids and I dread,
He starts by cleaning up the shed,
The sheep dog Blackie he tries to hide,
‘Cause swearing and cursing he cannot abide.
GURIA - EARTH TREMOR (from MAGIC).
Everywhere it is green on green
Triumphant vines cloning mossy giants
In forests of dulcet shades.
I hear a sound
Like thunder – no clouds in the sky
And then a silent silence
The world stands still and listening.
